I'm sure I will never have the finances to be able to walk into an art gallery and make a purchase. Thankfully, there are a few artists that can be found online, on Facebook and Etsy that occasionally sell their work at a price that makes it affordable.
I love folk art, I love Frida Kahlo and I love bright colors so I was thrilled to find this piece in Dana Bloede's Etsy store.
My Night Out as Frida by Dana Bloede
I need to find an extra special space for her as it was this painting that inspired me to try my own hand at painting Frida. Yes, there are a lot of Frida images out there, but it's this particular one that inspired me.
The colors, those eyes, the bright pink banner and the wonky skirt - I adore everything about this picture - I just had to try for myself. It was the chance of seeing this artwork and discovering Kat McBride's '8 Steps' tutorial that lead me to take big steps in my own artwork.
It's all the proof I need to prove surrounding yourself with art is a good thing.
And this afternoon, I learned a little more about Dana as she posted this article from her local Post on Facebook. I LOVE the idea of curating an art show and love that Dana does just that, displaying her own colorful artwork and other artists in her kitchen...
